She was like the moon
close, yet so far,
under whose soft glow,
you forgot all your pain,
lost yourself for hours,
in her soothing presence.
She was beautiful indeed,
but surely not perfect,
just like the moon,
she had her flaws.
She hid in the shadows,
you seldom felt her full radiance,
she rarely shone bright,
but when she did,
she was brighter than the stars,
and looking at her,
she was all you saw,
it was just you two in the world.
She was far away though,
indifferent to the world,
and you made no difference to her,
she was content in her own blissful solitude.
And just like the moon,
she had her dark side,
cold, desolate, unforgiving,
but she was the moon,
